Dubai Chronicles - Part 3b
The evening of the same day that we visited BurJuman, we visited the Dubai Museum. The museum is in a fort (Al-Fahidi Fort), the oldest building in Dubai!
A huge ship greets visitors right at the very entrance of the fort.
The museum houses an enormous variety of artifacts and the like. From traditional weapons and armours, to a model of Dubai as it was in 1822; the museum plays host to all this and more!
There were also videos depicting various things. One interesting video was that of traditional Arabic musicians and dancers.
We took a great many pictures in the museum, and although it's not possible to reproduce all of them here, I will attempt to post some of the more interesting ones. From unique musical instruments, to depicting every trade/profession that was/is a native favourite, the museum showcases them all! Also, of course, A and my brother-in-law played the fool, as they are always wont to do!
Dealing in pearls...
The seemingly omnipresent dates!!!
Girls celebrating on graduating from Quran class...
Falconry - the most valued traditional sport in the area today!!!
Jewellery...
The museum also has a beautiful and well stocked souvenir/gift shop.
