In Pursuit of a Long Awaited Goal!!!

About a week back, I completed work on my thesis. Once it is accepted by the university, I will be officially rewarded with an M.Phil degree! It feels really great to have completed the thesis at long last! It deals with the treatment of women in an American dramatist's (Tennessee Williams) plays. I really enjoyed working on it, and also want to extend a sincere thanks to all (you know who you are!), who, by way of their inputs, helped script a certain chapter in the said thesis!

hey super, this is so nice. and u know what, we used to do quite a bit of theatre and all some years back. and i had some great times!

tennessee williams is one of my favs - 'cat', is super brilliant imho.

am sure u know that his sister (who was unwell and later became paranoid and incapacitated) i supposed to have influenced him a lot.

i once wanted to enact 'streetcat' or 'cat', but wasn't confident of the girls in our crew to go ahead and do it :(

congratulations and my best wishes to u.

Thanks, dharmabum!

It's lovely that you've been associated with theatre! I'm quite fascinated by this art form myself, and also have a couple of friends actively involved in the same.

Yes, his sister, Rose, is supposed to have been a major influence in his life. He was very saddened by her unwell state. In fact, many of his women characters display a number of traits of his sister.

My favourite play is undoubtedly, "The Glass Menagerie"; the most autobiographical of his plays.

I agree, "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", are difficult plays to enact. Maybe, you should have given the girls a chance, though! You never know; you might have been pleasantly surprised!
