Indecisiveness

My oft middle name,
I wonder why it is so,
No time of day or night, it sees,
Jus’ springs on me, like a foe!

Oscillating between this,
That, and something more,
Ever swinging like a pendulum, am I!
Is it so ingrained in my core?!?

Some things in life,
Dead sure of, am I!
It’s the in-between things that so eat me!
And my head, in a knot, they tie!

Coupled with this,
Is my inimitable mood,
My indecisiveness too bows its head to thee!
Do you have to be so lewd!?!

To do a certain thing,
Decide, though I may,
When eventually faced with it, close upfront,
Act an entirely different way!

Some things become us,
Ingrained they may be,
The twain cannot be let off that easily, though!
I sure will conquer thee!!!

haha... Such decisions I make rather quickly, aditi; especially where colours are concerned! It's sticking to some of my decisions that gives me trouble!

I can well imagine how troubled others must be because of your constant changing of decisions! The people in my life sure don't think it's fun when I do the same! :-)

Hmm… a late response to your poem. But definitely not due to indecisiveness.. ;)

Yes it’s the most troubling thing for many of us.. And in-spite of the trait you have noticed in you, you have the courage to write a poem on it, mock it and hopeful of conquering it.. I like the spirit.

To frighten a person about indecisiveness here is one quote I got by googling.. - A lobster, when left high and dry among the rock, has not instinct or energy enough to work his way back to the sea, but waits for the sea to come to him. If it does not come, he remains where he is and dies, although the slightest effort would enable him to reach the waves, which are perhaps within a yard of him. The world is full of human lobsters; men stranded on the rocks of indecision and procrastination, who, instead of putting forth their own energies, are waiting for some grand billow of good fortune to set them afloat. - Orison Swett Marden
It should help one to introspect..

And if you are already half dead by the thought of indecisiveness here is a shorty to cheer you up - Indecision is the key to flexibility. - Anonymous
To lighten the mood, a well defending quote - I don't take a decision, it's not that I don't think about it. I think about it and take a decision not to take a decision. - P. V. Narasimha Rao, Outgoing Indian Prime Minister, defending his reputation for indecisiveness

And here is my favorite one, that applies to every other thoughts in our day to day life, including indecisiveness -   “Zeal is a volcano, the peak of which the grass of indecisiveness does not grow.” - by Kahlil Gibran

Sorry for writing such a long response.. But my zeal to write to you took over the indecisiveness.. ;D

Haha... Some of the quotes had me in splits, sindhu! It's nice to know that I'm not the only indecisive one around; the world seems to be infested with indecisive people! :-D

I can't belive this! I thought you were always the firm thing (at least with us).
If you wanted something done on way, no one wuld ever be able to get you to even look at the other way of doing it :-/

Oh! You have my stubbornness confused with my indecisiveness, miss iyer! Rest assured, when I do decide something, no one can make me flinch from it! That said, what I am talking about in the poem is my inability to decide in the first place!

very well written..

the indecision is indecisive :)

an integral and often unwanted element of our mundane lives..

it lives within and exists outside of us

it is all around and yet devoid of us

it exists in its entirety, night day

yet indecisive it is...
not knowing where it will be next, when and with whom

and yet as i write i wonder, how much of this is true :)

Thanks, wind of change!

Also, I must say that what you've written is "indecision personified"!
