Trashcan...

One more spoon,
Did my heart egg me to mouth!
All the while,
My head screaming a vehement no!
To pay heed, the sun,
Must rise in the South,
As the heart,
Took over my head in a seamless go!

Keep the pin away!
Can't you see I may explode?!?
I feel so very full,
Enough to rip my silly heart out!
With a noble aim to not waste,
Not a moment had I slowed!
Morsel after morsel,
Into my unwilling mouth, did I route!

A trashcan, am I!
My future, I can truly see!
Unwillingness to waste,
And lack of measuring skills,
Will ever conspire against me!!!

Dubai Chronicles - Part 9a

Sharjah - our next stop; some more buildings, construction cranes, shopping malls, and the like. It didn't seem like this emirate had much to offer than these, not discounting the famed cricket stadium, of course!

I'm Busy! I Like It!!!

What with being swamped with work, buried under books for the last examination that I'm going to be writing for some time, switching between reading Memoirs of a Geisha and a fake Harry Potter PDF, making travel plans for a training I'm attending next month and cooking like I've never cooked in all my years of existence on this planet (you'd think my life depended on it!); my poor blog has borne the brunt of it all! All these activities seem to be taking up a good part of my waking hours! Although, I still have a dozen things to complete before I call it a day here, at work, I must mention how much I'm enjoying reading Memoirs of a Geisha. It's quite different from what I imagined it'd be like! I have a hundred odd pages more to go, completing which, I'll be sure to note down a review of the book. About the fake Harry Potter, I wonder who has the time to write such things! Apart from all the unnecessary snogging between the different pairs of wizard/witch teenagers that the book seems to be laden with, its plot is actually quite interesting! I hope when the real book comes out next month, I'm not disappointed by the imagination in writing it, paling in comparison to the fake one! It doesn't seem likely of course, considering the reputation of creative imagination and fantasy that J. K. Rowling has built for herself over the last six books. I also have a whole load of books awaiting their being devoured by me, all thanks to A. I went berserk in a book shop the weekend before last, and A ended up buying me four books, not the least of which is Khaled Hosseini's new one (yes, the same man who wrote "The Kite Runner"!)! You can imagine how my hands are itching to hold that one and imbibe its every word! However, it has to wait till I'm done with Sayuri and Hatsumomo, two among many beautiful geishas of Gion, first!

As I mentioned, this coming Saturday heralds the last of my MBA papers. In a month, I should be both an MBA (I think I've done well, if I may say so myself!) and an M. Phil (considering, of course, that my dissertation is accepted) (woohoo!)!!! Hopefully, I'm well on my way to gaining a doctorate degree within the next several years.

On a different note, someone seems to be playing shamisens (yeah, I'm completely into the geisha book!) almost every day inside my head. My headaches seem to have returned, and with a vengeance at that!!! I guess all the reading and studying and watching reality shows on television are taking their toll on my head! Oh well!

In short, I'm busy and I like it.

Dubai Chronicles - Part 8

Our visit to Dubai was also laced with a visit to neighbouring Abu Dhabi; it being a mere hour and a half's drive from Dubai. From the usual array of beautiful buildings, roads and shopping malls, to the tomb (near the waterfront) of the former ruler of the place and the palace of the present one, the city plays host to them all and more (including beautiful cars)!

The Game of Life...

An enigma, you sure are,
With your lil, wily ways,
Ensnaring all in your folds,
As you wind through the days.
Sometimes, I know not,
To flow along will be wise,
Or to take control of you,
As dreariness does often rise.
Why are you of such import?
Such a mystery are you,
None leaves you defeated ever,
Why then, do find joy, few?
Melancholy, do you serve,
With equal fervour as laughter,
Tide over you, we must,
Life, at this game, you're a master!

Dubai Chronicles - Part 7b

Although we had already visited Burjuman, the lure of a chocolate week being celebrated there didn't allow me to skip going to the mall again, and thankfully so! The entire mall had a chocolate theme running through it, with posters about chocolate, mannequins dressed up in chocolatey dresses, artifacts made of chocolate, and even live chocolate sculpting!

:-D

....and my tryst with auto rickshaws continues! Over a huge bump did the driver go with alarming speed, leaving me with a nice, ping pong ball sized lump on my forehead! I feel rather like Tom, who invariably has a nice swelling on his head, to show for his exploits!

Happy Birthday, A!!!

Today being A's birthday, I whipped up a chocolate cake last evening. I must say, I'm quite proud of myself! It turned out very well, especially considering it was the first time I'd ever even tried making a cake!

Wish you a very very hap-hap-happy b'day, A!!! At least, you can count on a cake coming your way every year from now!
